  1. What stuck out to me today was when Jesus was asked to "prove" who he was, yet he remained SILENT. He didn't spout off and try to defend who he was or what he was doing. I think we (society) are in such a hurry to defend ourselves because we don't want to look stupid or we want to be right. What would happen if we just remained silent?

  2. What is the old saying, "Silence is golden"? I think that Jesus sets a great example here, of biting his tongue. This is definitely something that I have to hold myself accountable to on a regular basis. Sometimes it is just better to keep quiet, even when it feels like the world is against you. As Dave taught on Sunday, Jesus was fully human, he could have very easily fought back and "let 'em have it", but he didn't. He was so focused on owning his identity and trusting God to do what he knew was planned for him, that he was able to stand down and let those around him verbally and physically abuse him, understanding that cruelty that lay before him, but focusing on obeying his Father, in order to gain the power and authority. It always humbles me, when Jesus gives us such a clear example of how we should act. I've heard the terms "meek" and "bold" used to describe Jesus in this situation, and can't help but think that our world could use a bit more of those 2 things.
