I think it's hard for us to relate this passage to our lives, because we've never lived under the system that was in place for the Israelites - a human being, a priest, making intercession for us so that God doesn't hold our sins against us. We're such an independent people, it doesn't seem right to us that another human should even be able to do that for us. So Jesus making intercession for us is something we can wrap our minds around. He should be able to do it - he's not a human priest, but a perfect priest - a God. I wonder if we take it for granted that every day we are sinning, and every day he is interceding for us, making us clean and forgiven.

  4. I do think we take it for granted (along with so many other things in our lives), but I love how Maria Goff talks about the consistency of God's covenant. It doesn't change, even when we take if for granted; God is God, and we are His people. That's it, nothing else really matters. Jesus bridges the old and new, bringing life to us now and forever. I need not take that for granted!
